Shikhar Dhawan: Mischievous Superstar From India

Shikhar Dhawan is an Indian cricket player who plays on the world stage for his country. Shikhar plays for the Delhi franchise in the first-class cricket games played in India. He is also an important part of the Indian Premier League team Delhi Capitals, which he plays for.

Shikhar is one of the few cricket players who can throw a right-handed off-break. He bats left-handed at the top of the order. In 2013, eleven players were chosen by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to play for their country in one-day international games held all over the world.

He won the CEAT International Player of the Year award in 2013, and he won the CEAT International Batting Award in 2018.

  • Domestic Career –

Dhawan participated in his first-ever professional cricket match for the Delhi Under-16s squad during the 1999–2000 season of the Vijay Merchant Trophy. This match took place in Delhi. At the tournament for the Vijay Merchant Trophy the next year, which took place in 2000–2001, he had the most runs, and he won the trophy. Because of his outstanding performance over the past two years, India’s coaching staff decided to select him to participate in the ACC Under-17 Asia Cup.

Dhawan quickly rose to prominence in the Indian domestic cricket scene after a streak of outstanding performances when he was a young player. Following that, he participated in the CK Nayudu Trophy, the Cooch Behar Trophy, and the Delhi Under-19 contests, all of which led to him finally being the captain of both teams. At the Under-19 World Cup, which was held in Bangladesh in 2004, Dhawan scored 505 runs throughout seven games. He finished the competition with the most runs scored overall.

In November of 2004, Dhawan participated in a first-class competition for the first time. His game was played for Delhi. Dhawan had the highest run total of any player during the Ranji season, with 461 runs for Delhi in only six matches. This was the most runs scored by any player. Because of this, he ended up with more points than anyone else on the team. In October of 2005, Dhawan experienced his first unsuccessful series in a considerable amount of time. During the 2005–2006 Challenger Trophy, he was participating in the game for India B. Dhawan put in the weakest performance of the group. Following that, Dhawan participated in a three-day match for the Board President’s XI against the Sri Lankan cricket team that was touring the country. Additionally, he was a part of the North Zone team that competed against the President’s XI of the Zimbabwe Cricket Union. The African nation of Zimbabwe played host to both of these competitions.

In addition, he competed for India A in the EurAsia Cricket Series in April and May of 2006. The 2006–2007 Ranji season was highly significant for Dhawan because, in February of the following year, he was selected to lead Delhi in the Ranji One-Day Trophy. As a consequence of this, he believed that the Ranji season was significant. Dhawan played a significant role in Delhi’s run to the championship in 2007–2008, the year the squad was assembled. Following that, he went on to win a lot of tournaments until 2010, when India A was touring England and he struggled during that time. After that, he went on to win a lot more events.

  • IPL Career –

According to ipl present news, Shikhar played his first game in the IPL with the Delhi Daredevils in 2008. He had the third-best batting average on the team and hit four home runs throughout the season. But in the end, the group decided to give him to the Mumbai Indians in exchange for Ashish Nehra. Now, he plays for them. After that, he played in the Indian Premier League for the Mumbai Indians for the next two years.

In preparation for the 2013 Champions League Twenty20, Dhawan was named captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team. On the other hand, the Indian Premier League named Darren Sammy as captain for the 2014 season. Neither Dhawan nor the Sunrisers did very well in the 2015 Indian Premier League season (IPL). Even so, they won the next year and took the trophy for their division home. In the upcoming 2017 season of the Indian Premier League, Dhawan will play for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad used their RTM (right to match) card to buy Dhawan for 5.2 crores at the 2018 Indian Premier League Auction. After being traded to the Delhi Capitals, Dhawan will play for the team again in 2019.
